TOUR DESCRIPTION & ITINERARY
Forest Walk, Birding, Source Of The Nile & Jinja Tour. A Day Trip To East Africa’s Most Adventurous Town – Jinja With Stunning Attractions Like The Source Of The Nile, Natural Forests Like Mabira & A Number Of Cultural Heritage Sites.
This Jinja tour starts with the famous Sezibwa falls – a Buganda heritage site located in Mukono district, 32 km east of Kampala. It then takes you to Mabira forest – one of Uganda’s largest surviving natural forests with 312 species of trees, 315 species of Birds, 218 Butterfly Species, 97 Moth Species and 23 Small Mammal Species. You will enjoy a forest walk to see some of these species in the forest. After you head to Jinja city – the adventure capital of east Africa. A number of craft centers and shops you will find here and souvenir shopping will be the best option. You will also visit the source of the world’s second longest river – River Nile which starts its 6,500km journey from Jinja to the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt. The former Ripon falls were found here but disappeared after the construction of the Nalubaale Dam. Note: White water rafting on the Nile can be arranged on its own since it takes a full day or half day.
Day 01: Jinja Tour
Early morning, our tour guide / driver will pick you up from your place of residence or accommodation and drive to Jinja. Along the way, 20 miles east of Kampala you will find the Sezibwa falls – a Buganda heritage site. The falls offer a beautiful scenery for relaxation, enjoyment and a number of activities can be enjoyed here including bird-watching & rock climbing. After the falls you will visit the Mabira forest which is 54km away from Kampala, where you will get to enjoy a forest walk. You will get to see a large number of birds, primates, butterflies, and other mammals living in the forest. Zip lining is also available and can be arranged on request. After the walk, your guide will then transfer you to Jinja town for Lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the source of the mighty river Nile, one of the most famous attractions in Uganda. A number of activities can be enjoyed on the Nile including bungee jumping, rafting, sunset cruises, fishing and so many others. Your guide will then transfer you back to Kampala at your accommodation or place of residence.
