TOUR DESCRIPTION & ITINERARY

During this holiday, you experience life in Kampala capital city, visit the great river Nile, raft and or bungee jump. Sipi falls and Kidepo Valley National park followed by Murchison falls and a visit to the Rhino sanctuary en-route to the safari to Murchison falls, Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo national parks, Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest and a visit to the local community chimp conservation site en-route to Bwindi forest for Gorillas and lastly visit the deepest lake Bunyonyi with a massive Bird life.

Day 1:Airport Pickup

Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport. Transfer to Kampala for the first night in the capital city of Uganda.

Day 2:White water rafting –the Nile River

After breakfast proceed to Jinja for white water rafting. This is the most exciting 31 km rafting trip on earth and includes a fantastic barbeque lunch and complimentary drinks after the trip. Visit the Source of the Nile in the evening before you return to your Lodge.

Day 3:Explore Sipi Falls

Drive to Mbale and in the evening, visit the Sipi falls. Then stay at the Lodge.

Day 4:Transfer to Pian-Upe

Drive to Pian-Upe Wildlife reserve and birding the whole day. The reserve is also a home to several species of wildlife which makes it attractive and often visited by tourists in the entire world, the wild animals such as giraffes, lions, leopard, zebras, buffaloes, Harte beast, greater kudu, topi, Orib, and Uganda’s last population of roam antelope. It is one of the few places to observe Rothschild’s giraffe; different species of birds can also be spotted out around the swamp terrains in the Loporokocho swamp, bird species like the Ostrich, Jackson’s Hornbill, Hartlaub’s Bustard, and the white-headed buffalo- weaver. In addition, the velvet monkey, olive baboons can all be spotted out.
Pian Upe is home to enormous rock pythons and smaller but venomous puff adders. Harmless water snakes are also found there.
The largest lizards in Pian Upe are the Savannah monitors. Others in the reserve include the common agama as well as skinks, chameleons and geckos.

Day 5:Visit to the Karamojong

Today you drive to Moroto town. En-route you will visit some of the Karamojong communities. These people live in homesteads called Kraals or the Manyata. The Karamajong are related to the Maasai in Kenya and live a similar lifestyle. The main difference is that the Karamajong is completely unknown and you are therefore sure to experience a very authentic and unique visit. We do not encourage camping in the communities because of factors like hygiene, food or meals served and security concerns hence after the visit you will stay close to Moroto town.

Day 6:Transfer to Kidepo

Today you will travel to Kidepo valley N.P. A long but rewarding drive will take you passed one of the most beautiful scenery in Uganda.

Day 7:Game Drives in the isolated wilderness of Kidepo

Early morning game drive in the park and then afternoon Ostrich tracking. A night at the lodge.

Day 8:More game drives

Another game drive in the morning. In Kidepo Valley National Park you will find zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions and leopards. This is also the only place in Uganda where you can find the cheetah and ostrich. Relax in the Afternoon and enjoy the comfort of your Lodge.

Day 9:Transfer to Murchison Falls

Drive to Murchison falls National Park through the North western part of Uganda with Lunch stop en-route to Murchison falls. After breakfast, we drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest National Park (3893sq.km) and it protects a huge chunk of untamed savannah bisected by the mighty River Nile. Today it is part of the even much larger Murchison Falls Protected Area (5072sq.km) which includes the adjoining Karuma and Bugungu Wildlife Reserves. It is named for the dramatic Murchison Falls where by the World’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge in a frothing pool 43 m below. It is one of Uganda’s oldest conservation areas; it was initially gazetted as a game reserve in 1926 to protect a savannah that Winston Churchill described in 1907 as ‘Kew Gardens and the Zoo combined on an unlimited scale. The park has 76 mammal species including; the lion, elephant, leopard, hippopotamus, Rothschild giraffe, Cape buffalo, hartebeest, oribi, warthog, and the Uganda Kob. The park also hosts over 550 bird species including the rare Shoebill Stork.

Day 10:Game Drives –Murchison Falls

After breakfast, we have a game drive to the rolling plains where you will have chances of viewing; Hartebeest, Lions, Buffalo, Primates, Mongoose, Giraffe and Elephants. After lunch, we will have an afternoon launch cruise where you have chances to view huge Nile Crocodiles, big Pods of Hippos, and other wildlife. You will also be able to see a wide variety of water birds like; Secretary Bird, Abyssinian Roller and Ground Hornbill, Pied Kingfishers and many more.

Day 11:Hike Top of the Fall & Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After Breakfast, Visit the top of the falls and then drive through Masindi to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Lunch at your Lodge. Go tracking for the Rhinos in the Afternoon.

Day 12:Transfer to Kibale Forest

Whole day drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon.

Day 13:Chimp Tracking

Morning visit to Kibale Forest National Park, where you enjoy a guided walk in search of chimpanzee and 10 other primates including l’ Hoestes, Red colobus, blue, red-tailed monkeys, brown monkeys and gray – cheeked mangabey. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates, but on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life and seeing primates at close quarters. After lunch, visit the community and take a walk in Bigodi Swamp. Return to your accommodation.

Day 14:Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey. A game drive en route to your accommodation may be rewarded with views of elephant, leopard, buffalo, hyena and a variety of antelope species along the Crater drive.

Day 15:Game drive with a massive Rwenzori’s as a backdrop

Early morning game drive today. Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco- system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Game drive in this park, with the massive Rwenzoris as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. After lunch enjoy the unique 2hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colourful and stupendous with well over 600 resident species.

Day 16:Transfer to Ishasha Sector

Drive south to the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Mammalian specialties in this area include Giant Forest Hog and the legendary Tree-climbing Lions.

Day 17:Tree Climbing Lion of Ishasha

Enjoy Game drive both in the morning and evening in search of the tree climbing Lions and other wildlife in the Park.

Day 18:Transfer to Bwindi

Drive through the “Switzerland of Africa” area known as the Kigezi Highlands, with its terraced hillside and winding roads to Bwindi.

Day 19:Gorilla tracking

Early morning entry into the Gorilla sanctuary. This rainforest is spectacular. It offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape, is incredibly dense, crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Mammals recorded include the endangered Mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog. This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain varies according to the movements of the primates. The thrill of observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure. The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact. After tracking, Transfer to Kisoro.

Day 20:Transfer to Bunyonyi

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is surrounded by terraced hills. Enjoy Bilharzia – free swimming, dug out canoeing, sunbathing, hill climbing or mountain bike riding and cray fishing.

Day 21:Transfer to Lake Mburo

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Enter the park through the Nshara Gate. Afternoon game drive along the Lakeshore track. With its own system of game trails and cleared walkways the “Kigambara Loop” offers interesting guided lakeside walks. Find here herds of zebra, Cape buffalo and eland. Oribi and topi are easily approached.

Day 22:Morning game drives

After an early Breakfast. Head out for a morning game drive in Lake Mburo National park. Depending on the wildlife you encounter, you return to the lodge for Lunch. After Lunch In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo and get quite close to pods of hippos. , many visitors enjoy a boat trip on Lake Mburo. Birdwatchers will enjoy the more than 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo including Papyrus Gonolek, Brown-faced Lapwing, Carruther’s Cisticola, the extraordinary White-winged Warbler and Bare-Faced-Go- Away bird.

Day 23:Walking Safari

After breakfast, proceed for a safari walk under the escort of an armed ranger. It is possible to see Lake Mburo’s hyena in their cave if you are willing to get up early. The Kopjes are particularly interesting plus camouflage kilpspringers and topis. Due to cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra grazing alongside the long horned Ankole cattle peaceably. Return for lunch which should be taken leisurely enjoying the view of the lakes in this park. Drive back to Kampala stopping at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers en route where you will be able to watch ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. There will also be time to stop at the equator for photographs. You arrive in Entebbe in the early evening.
